Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani and his transition team announced the appointment of more than 400 New Yorkers that will help the incoming administration prepare to address New York City’s most urgent challenges — from skyrocketing rents and rising childcare costs to transportation access, business development, and emergency preparedness.

Today, Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani announced the appointment of Commissioner Jessica S. Tisch to serve as the New York City Police Commissioner in his incoming administration. As the 48th Commissioner of New York City Police Department, Commissioner Tisch has rooted out corruption in the upper echelons of the NYPD and led a department-wide focus on accountability and transparency, while delivering historic reductions in violent crime.

In less than ten days, Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani has raised more than $1 million for his transition fund, laying the groundwork for an administration ready to deliver on his affordability agenda on day one. 12,707 people donated, with an average contribution of just $77.65. Thousands of New Yorkers are chipping in to help build the incoming administration, reflecting a City Hall that is by and for everyday New Yorkers.

Less than a week after Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani launched his transition’s Resume Portal, 50,000 people have already applied to join his team. The portal allows any person interested in working in the Mamdani administration to submit their resume directly to the transition team. The overwhelming response underscores the enthusiasm and belief in building a government that delivers for working people.

Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani today appointed Dean Fuleihan, New York City’s most experienced budget director and a 40+ year city and state management veteran, as First Deputy Mayor. Mamdani also appointed Elle Bisgaard-Church, his chief advisor who steered Mamdani’s historic primary victory, as Chief of Staff.

New York City Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani today appointed nonprofit leader Grace Bonilla, City budget and social service expert Melanie Hartzog, former Federal Trade Commission chair Lina Khan, housing and economic development leader Maria Torres-Springer, as Transition Co-Chairs, and political strategist Elana Leopold as Transition Executive Director.
