Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani Resume Portal Hits 50,000 Applicants

In less than a week, Mamdani Resume Portal flooded with thousands of applications from people across industries & experience levels

NEW YORK, NY — Less than a week after Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani launched his transition’s Resume Portal, 50,000 people have already applied to join his team. The portal allows any person interested in working in the Mamdani administration to submit their resume directly to the transition team. The overwhelming response underscores the enthusiasm and belief in building a government that delivers for working people.

The transition team, led by Co-chairs Grace Bonilla, Lina Khan, Maria Torres-Springer, and Melanie Hartzog, and Transition Executive Director Elana Leopold, will accept all backgrounds and experience levels — from seasoned policy professionals to entry-level workers looking to build their careers while helping deliver on the affordability agenda. The resume portal underscores Mamdani’s approach to the transition, one rooted in transparency and a steady connection to the coalition that got him elected.

This week, Zohran Mamdani announced two major senior leadership positions: Dean Fuleihan, who served as the former First Deputy Mayor and Budget Director under Mayor Bill de Blasio and has more than 30 years experience in Albany, was appointed his First Deputy Mayor and Elle Biasgaard-Church, who steered the campaign to a historic victory in the primary, was appointed his Chief of Staff.

“The sheer number of applicants speaks to the excitement at the heart of this movement — one that has inspired people to believe that government can put working people first,” said Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani. “This was a movement built by and for New Yorkers – and our administration will reflect that.”

“We’re building an administration defined by excellence and a commitment to delivering on Zohran Mamdani’s affordability agenda,” said Elana Leopold, Executive Director of the Transition. “50,000 applicants are proving that they’re ready to help carry out this work across all levels of government. And these applicants make this movement, and this incoming administration, that much stronger.”

From every corner of the country — community organizers, policy experts, government veterans, and working New Yorkers — the team is looking for experienced applicants who can hit the ground running to deliver Mamdani’s affordability agenda.
